The Community Library programme is an initiative spearheaded by NGOhub. It receives donated books from the public and channels them to build libraries for underprivileged children all over Malaysia. Since 2014, we have set up 52 libraries and donated over 15,800 books to those who need them.
Reading gives you the power to gain perspective, improve memory, develop critical thinking, ignite imagination, and increase empathy.
But children who read most often live in urban locations, have an English speaking background as well as access to books and a supportive reading environment.
What about children from underprivileged communities who don’t have access to books?
We channel new and used books to build reading spaces for underprivileged children!
Each of these libraries will have a dedicated reading space with:
Who are our targeted beneficiaries? Orphanages, shelters, PPR residents, orang asli and rural community centres.
If 300 individuals donated RM 10 each, that’s 1 library we can build for a community in need. You can bring the joy of reading to an underserved community by contributing today!
