Help Adam Zakuan Walk Over Blount Disease

THE PROBLEM

My name is Adam Zakuan and I am diagnosed with Blount Disease.

Blount Disease is a disorder of the growth plates in the bones around the knee. The disease causes children like myself to have a bowlegged appearence. I experience pain and instability which makes standing, walking and running difficult for me.

In 2020, I went for an X-Ray and doctors told my parents that my legs were bent. I bravely underwent a surgery to place metal plates and screws but 7-months post-surgery, it broke my heart to know that my condition has not improved.

THE SOLUTION

The doctors at Hospital Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (HUKM) advised my parents to elect for a follow-up surgery with larger plates. These could help straighten my legs and enable me to stand, walk and run without pain! 

The cost for this surgery is expected to be higher than the previous. My parents are self-employed. My father works hard to provide for myself and two siblings. He works as a runner who also delivers my mom's delicious baked goods and kuih. Their earnings are not fixed and on a good day we are able to make RM2,000. 

My surgery will cost RM21,000. I will fight Blount Disease, I will walk over this as I have since I was diagnosed. I will not give up and it would mean the world to me and my family if you could help me raise money for this surgery.
