THE PROBLEM

According to a report by UNICEF, there is a concern that as many as 17,000 students in Malaysia do not continue on to secondary school each year with a drop-out rate of 10.1 percent in urban schools. Various researches cite some of the following reasons on why students drop-out from school:

1.         Lack of interest in school

2.         Poor academic performance

3.         Cannot afford fees and expenses

Through various education and social empowerment programmes, we work unconditionally towards transforming scholars from underserved communities to develop their true potential.

We provide free education and social empowerment programmes to scholars of underserved multiracial communities throughout Malaysia irrespective of race or religion.

THE IMPACT

The benefits of the Ajar-Ajar programme for the scholars of the underserved communities and their parents include:

3.         To raise up youth with noble character and build a healthy social conduct.

Through these scholar empowerment programmes, we have benefited over 400 children from diverse backgrounds. We connect the children and parents to the society throughout Malaysia, until now, we have 14 Ajar-ajar service centre in Malaysia. About the Organization/Project behind this Campaign

Ajar-ajar Malaysia

Ajar-Ajar is a student education tuition aid programme for underprivileged school going children.

This volunteer-based programme provides two-ways learning opportunities for the children as well for the volunteer teachers or mentors. The first word of Ajar-ajar, ‘ajar’, stands for teaching (mengajar) while the second word, ‘ajar’, stands for learning (belajar). This highlights the objective of the programme where the students learn while the volunteers teach. This project off-sets tuition charges and alleviates academic and motivation problems faced by children.

The volunteers while providing 1-on-1 education coaching, build up a stronger relationship with the children and BE able to provide advice and counselling. The benefits are for the underprivileged children and for the volunteers as well.
