The Story

OUR BACKGROUND

Hello, we are students from University of Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) volunteering and supporting those in need during Covid-19 pandemic. Our group are consist of 5 person Prissha, Isma, Atikah, Iylia and Aqilah from Bachelor of Business Administration in University of Kuala Lumpur.

Our mission for this project are helping bus operators that are affected and lost income because of the pandemic.

We feel called to help bus operators after seeing the initiative of businessman who is also an ustaz named Ebit Lew who extended assistance and contribution to bus operators affected by the pandemic.

As we know, as a result of cross-state bans and movement control order (MCO), the most affected jobs are bus operators due to the absence of passengers. Therefore, our team has come together to help them through this hard time.

WHY WE SHOULD HELP BUS OPERATORS??

During this Covid-19 many of them lost their jobs and didn’t get salaries for support family. As Ustaz Ebit have talked about how local bus operators have only been able to work for six months this whole year due to the intermittent school closures that resulted from the Covid-19 pandemic. Sadly, for the year 2020, they’ve only had income for only 6 months.

For the other 6 months, they went by with no income. Meanwhile, the plight of bus drivers, who have lost their livelihood due to the decision to close schools has gone largely unnoticed. Those bus operators are play important role school bus drivers play, adding that they ensure the children of working parents get to school safely and have a chance at growing up to be noble and successful people.

Despite the government ruling that all economic sectors were allowed to continue operating during this CMCO, this sadly didn’t apply for bus operators. With schools being closed, school bus operators were effectively left jobless. We are here to help those who have lost profit, lost jobs due to Covid-19 especially for bus operators, who couldn’t continue to pay their loans and could not survive with zero income. With schools being closed, school bus operators were effectively left jobless.

We also wanted to help them some groceries packed from convenience store and gave a handful of others a little bit of pocket money. Using this fundraising camping, we’ll help those bus drivers to get some groceries and little bit of pocket money to help them survive.

If you have extra money right now, consider donating to a charity. There’s a good chance many charities in your community are looking for help especially for bus operators who lost their income due to school closure

Any amount of donation that you can donate is a great help for them. We appreciate your amazing support that helps make this event possible! Thanks a lot :)
