Assalamualaikum and hello everyone! My name is Umi Nabila, a local volunteer of a community project, AIESEC's Get Fit, Get Inclusive (GFGI). In support of SDG Goal 10: Reduced Inequalities, GFGI aims to assist Special Children in Malaysia by conducting activities to support the development of Special Children's mental and social skills.
So why did I volunteer for this project? In the year back in 2017, I discovered the importance of volunteering and found my purpose when I decided to step out of my comfort zone by going for an exchange program. 6 months abroad taught me that to create a better place to live, caring and supporting our community is essential. Upon my return, I begin to volunteer in projects related to the Persons with Disabilities (PwD) community, which opens my eyes to the fact that a small action means a lot to them. The best memory I have is being able to put a smile on their face and seeing their learning progress. From there, I knew there are few ways we could do to help them.
With the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, non-government funded centres such as the IMC Training Centre for Special Needs have been struggling with insufficient food and the lack of voluntary manpower and donations means that they are not able to operate as efficiently. To support 78 Special Children and orphans that are completely under their guardianship, thus, I came up with this campaign "Inclusion: Everyone's Ability" in support of Include Me 2.0 with the hope to advocate that every single action could create a ripple effect to the development of Special Needs Children.
For that, join me in this 4-week cause to support Special Children in Malaysia by donating to this fundraising campaign. Remember, never think of your contribution as small✨.
