The Story

Good day everyone! I’m Emily from UiTM Shah Alam and one of the Local Volunteer of Get Fit Get Inclusive by AIESEC in Sunway. I decided to be a part of this project because I realised that not everyone is aware of the challenges faced by the special needs community. I want to reduce inequalities by helping special needs children by aid in their development and acclimation into mainstream society.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many special needs children facilities are facing financial issues as well due to lack of funding. One of the training centres that were affected during the pandemic is IMC Special Needs Centre. They have been struggling with insufficient food and the lack of voluntary manpower and donations which means that they are not able to operate as efficiently to support the Special Children and orphans that are completely under their guardianship. Hence, I want to raise a fund to support IMC Special Needs Centre and hope to get support from all of you.

The majority who not involve in the special needs community or know anyone with special needs might not aware of what challenges can arise on a daily basis. In Malaysia, children with disabilities are often hidden, portrayed negatively, and excluded from society. This is sad because special needs children deserve love and care like everyone.
