Rekindling the “lost years” of learning for 48 girls - Make virtual learning fun with AIESECers

The Story

Coming from someone who has a soft spot for the younger generation who are underprivileged to have access to education, it made me realize that COVID-19 has indeed impacted B40 students the most. Greetings. I am Keira, a local virtual volunteer from Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS in Speak Up 7.0.

Here are the realities of these students in Malaysia since the pandemic hits us:-

🖥️ Various grievances from B40 parents and students have been reported, including - parents travelling 6km from home to get Internet coverage for their children; a university student in Sabah spending a day on a tree to take an online examination; siblings sharing devices, resulting in some having to do homework at midnight; and older siblings' studies being harmed. "Students who are unable to keep up with their studies, particularly when they progress to higher standards, are more likely to drop out." This fundraising is done in hopes to make a difference for 48 girls in SMK St. Bernadette’s Convent in Quality Education, the 4th Sustainable Development Goal (SDG), especially in English proficiency and STEM subjects.
