Gender Equality IS NOT Radical Feminism.

The Story

Hi, I am Min Rui and I am currently studying ACCA (accountancy professional qualification) in Sunway College. I had decided to join the Action For Equality project organized by AIESEC in Sunway in the hopes to contribute and gain knowledge on gender discrimination issues happening around Malaysia and worldwide. It started from a common stereotype that girls/women should bear the responsibility of household chores as opposed to boys/men. I strongly disagree in this statement as everyone is living in the same compound! 

We should all share the workload of household chores after making adequate arrangement among our family members. This is to ensure that everyone has sufficient time to complete their work/homework and household chores and even have their own me-time without feeling too stressed out or over-whelmed.

In Malaysia, a girl name Ain Husniza had inspired the slogan #MakeSchoolASaferPlace after exposing her PE teacher for making a rape joke in class in April 2021. This event had alerted us to be aware of the appropriateness of teacher’s conduct and behaviour in school. Teachers are very important as they are the ones who educates and nurtures future generation in shaping them to make positive contribution to the society in the future. However, this case had proven us otherwise.

So, it had triggered my interest to participate in the Action For Equality project and I wish to support the operation of AWAM through public fundraising. Meanwhile, I would be supporting the Take Action, Live Equal (TALE) campaign which focused on achieving SDG 5 – Gender Equality. So, I need your help in attaining my goal. Even a little contribution is much truly appreciated.
