THE PROBLEM

Food wastage is a never-ending issue in Malaysia. According to SWCorp, Malaysians threw away more than 16,667 tonnes of food daily. About 24% of the food waste is still edible, making them enough to feed about 12 million people for a day!

On top of that, the number increases by 15% to 20% during festive seasons. Food waste in this country is a major concern as 55% of Malaysia's landfills is comprised of food.

THE SOLUTION

Through this crowdfunding campaign, Clean Our Plate AIESEC in University of Malaya will collaborate with Yayasan Food Bank Malaysia to raise the fund which will be used to purchase food donation items for the underprivileged end beneficiary, with the goal of impacting around 150 communities that assist them during this difficult pandemic period.

The tentative food donation list that will be received per beneficiaries are as follow:

1. Mini Rice Cake 30s (20g)

2. Margarine (1kg)

3. Orange Cordial (2kg)

4. Potato (2.5kg)

5. Onion (1.5kg)

6. Eggs Grade C 30s (60g)

THE IMPACT

By running this campaign, Clean Our Plate will be able to increase the awareness of public towards the food waste issues especially in Malaysia and do encourage public to start taking action today!

70% of the funds will go back to the underprivileged end beneficiary whereas 30% will be used for future projects development.
